WELCOME TO AIMS LAB

Modern engineering systems increasingly require materials and structures that adapt intelligently to changing environments, uncertain and extreme loads, and diverse functional demands.

AIMS Lab develops computational design methods for architected systems whose behavior is programmed through geometry, material distribution, and multi-physics interactions, spanning metamaterials and stimuli-responsive soft materials. By integrating intelligent computational methods, including topology optimization and AI-assisted design, with manufacturing, sensing, and feedback-enabled functionality, we aim to create programmable, adaptive, and manufacturable systems for resilient infrastructure, soft robotics, and healthcare.

  • Topology optimization and AI-assisted design
  • Metamaterials and stimuli-responsive soft materials
  • Stochastic dynamics, vibration, and wave control
  • Additive manufacturing and engineering applications
